About Christos Garkinos co-owner decadestwo Having a movie make-up artist turned restaurateur for a father, Christos Garkinos grew up with a keen understanding of looking good and how to please a crowd. Years later he would experience this feeling firsthand as the co-founder of decadestwo, the unique Los Angeles based boutique which has become an international shopping destination. Along with co-owner Cameron Silver, the influential fashion visionary behind the vintage couture boutique Decades, Garkinos has turned decadestwo into a runaway success. Sales have sextupled in six years to almost $2 million, and the boutique has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Initially creating the concept and the providing the seed money for decadestwo, Garkinos joined the venture full-time six years ago. With over 1800 consigners and a thriving clientele, Garkinos and Silver have built up a remarkable global network of customers that, as Garkinos says, “passionately hunt, gather and recycle” clothing. In 2004, Garkinos and fellow tastemaker Darren Gold launched Alpha, an all-encompassing men’s lifestyle store located in heart of LA’s prime shopping district. Recently selected by GQ as one of the top 100 men’s stores in America, Alpha’s well-edited selection of both whimsical and practical items meets the specific male challenges of how to love, groom, learn, look, home and entertain. Garkinos brings nearly 20 years of consumer product and retail experience to decadestwo. Upon graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in Business, Garkinos was employed in the highly selective brand management program at the Clorox Company. After 3 years in brand management, he was accepted to the Harvard Business MBA program, but opted for a position at the Walt Disney Company instead. During his five-year tenure at Disney, Garkinos rose to become the head of marketing for the Disney Stores in Europe at the age of 29. After Disney, he accepted a position as the Vice President of Marketing for US Virgin Megastores. Garkinos led the marketing efforts during the chain's expansion from two to twenty-two locations. At Virgin, he was promoted to Executive Vice President and was responsible for a $50 million buying budget and a staff of 100. Recently featured as one of the most 15 fashionable men in the world by Japanese Vogue. Garkinos has been seen in the pages of Vanity Fair, Los Angeles Magazine, Glamour, DNR, Angeleno, and Vogue as well as on the Home and Garden Network, Fine Living, and 20/20. Back To Main |
